Upwend is a recovery support companion designed for the moments between your appointments. It offers self-paced content grounded in evidence-based recovery-support frameworks — CBT, CRA, ACT, and Stages of Change — to support you in your day-to-day recovery journey.
Yes. You'll need an email address and the access code provided by your program. That's all. No other personal information is required to get started.
Access is currently provided through participating programs using an access code. You'll use that code along with your email address to create your account.
The access code enables account creation but does not by itself share your medical records with Upwend. If you don't have a code, speak with your program or clinician.
Yes. If your program has introduced you to Upwend, there is no cost to you as a patient. Your program covers access.
Upwend is designed for adults aged 18 and over who are engaged in a recovery support program. Access is available through participating organizations and is not currently available for direct sign-up.
When you first open Upwend, you'll choose your avatar and begin your journey. The app will guide you from there. There's no pressure to move quickly — you go at your own pace.
That's completely okay. Upwend includes an Early Stage Path designed specifically for people who aren't yet ready to commit to change. It meets you where you are — with no pressure to advance before you're ready.
Nothing. Your account stays exactly as you left it. There are no penalties, no streaks to maintain, and no pressure to catch up. When you're ready to come back, Upwend will be here.
Yes. You can return to any content you've previously accessed at any time. Recovery isn't linear, and neither is the way you might use Upwend.
Your avatar represents you throughout your journey. It evolves as you engage with the app — not as a score, but as a reflection of your continued presence and participation.
Quick Reset gives you instant access to two tools — the Craving Crusher and the Breathing Timer — without navigating through the app. It's designed for the moments when you need support right away.
The Journey Map is a visual record of your progress through Upwend's chapters. It helps you see how far you've come, especially on the days when progress feels difficult to notice.
Upwend is designed not to collect medical records, diagnosis information, or other protected health information through the patient app experience described here.
Programs receive reporting at the program level rather than reports showing your individual responses or choices.
Your clinician or program may receive program-level engagement reporting. They do not receive your individual responses or choices within app content.
Only your email address and the access code provided by your program. No date of birth, address, or payment information is required.
No. Upwend is not a medical device, treatment program, or clinical service. It is a recovery support companion designed to complement the care you are already receiving.
